Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet or lightly grease a loaf pan.
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, grated onion, ketchup, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently until everything is evenly incorporated.
- Form the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan. Spread a thin coating of ketchup over the top.
- Bake for 55 to 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Ground turkey can be substituted for the ground beef if preferred.
- Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce for extra depth of flavor.
- Leftovers make excellent sandwiches the next day.
- Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days or freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
