Grandma's Easy Meatloaf Recipe

This traditional meatloaf recipe is made with ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onion, and ketchup for a tender, juicy family dinner. It's an easy homemade comfort food recipe inspired by grandma's classic meatloaf.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion grated
  • ½ cup ketchup plus more for topping
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet or lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, grated onion, ketchup, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently until everything is evenly incorporated.
  3. Form the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan. Spread a thin coating of ketchup over the top.
  4. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Ground turkey can be substituted for the ground beef if preferred.
  • Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce for extra depth of flavor.
  • Leftovers make excellent sandwiches the next day.
  • Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days or freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
