Servings: 9 rolls
Course: Breakfast

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons instant yeast
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
Filling
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Warm the milk, sugar, and yeast until warm. Combine with flour, salt, butter, and egg to form a dough.
  2. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  3. Roll into a rectangle, spread with butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar, then roll up and slice.
  4. Place rolls in a greased 8x8-inch baking dish. Let rise again, bake until golden, then frost while warm.

Notes

  • Use an 8x8-inch baking dish for best results.
  • Instant yeast works best for this recipe.
  • Rolls can be assembled the night before.
  • Frost while warm so the icing melts into the rolls.
